Original Paintings
by Nick Mannos

I am a self-taught artist just emerging onto the Seattle art scene and have received “Winning Finalist” recognition in two recent art competitions:

  • Treasure Map – selected in Blue Koi Gallery’s “Timeless Abstract Art Competition” (April).
  • Azul – selected in Ten Moir Gallery’s “True Blue Art Competition” (May).

In June, Lightness of Being was also selected by the Center On Contemporary Art (COCA) for exhibition in their Members’ Show. You can view it on display now in one of COCA’s “ShowWalls” partner venues, The Collins Pub, during First Thursday Art Walks in Pioneer Square on July 3rd/August 7th and continuing through August 29th.

While some of my paintings have been previously shown at both the Schack Art Center in Everett and the Seattle Athletic Club – Northgate, my latest work can be found on Instagram. Please see the link at the top right of my website’s Home and Portfolio pages.

A Few Words About Me

Born in Portland Oregon, I am a self-taught abstract artist now living in Seattle Washington. I have always called the Pacific Northwest home. From a young age, I was interested in taking things apart and putting them back together.

With my artwork, I tend to follow a similar process. I break down a painting into sections, and then combine them piece-by-piece back into something unique and engaging. I like to search for and discover gently-used/sometimes-forgotten canvases – as well as old or antique frames – and upcycle these materials to create something entirely new and different.

A Few Words About Me

Born in Beaverton Oregon, I have always felt a deep connection to nature and the outdoors. The PNW has been home for as long as I can remember.

Moving to Seattle when I turned 10, what struck me most was the light – the way the sky shifts when it rains, and the mist that settles over the Cascades. I am continually drawn to history, to dreams, and to the idea of a shared memory.

In my work, I try to pull from all of this. I’m not interested in telling anyone what to feel or think – only in holding up a mirror…
